Reserved for the medical people: doctors, residents, and medical students
This is a dedicated section of RoundsMD, kept separate from the patient facing content. Both doctors agreed with Joe to build it: how doctors and other professionals should invest and protect themselves, guidance for young medical students preparing for their careers, and planning from start to retirement. It will be produced together during Joe's Texas visit.

Disability insurance basics
Your income is your largest asset for most of a career. Disability cover replaces part of it if illness or injury stops you working. Key terms in plain language: own occupation means the policy pays if you cannot do your own specialty, the elimination period is the waiting time before payments start, and the benefit period is how long payments last. General education only.

Why doctors are targeted by bad investments
High income, late start, little business training, and no time. That combination is exactly what sellers of complex, high fee products look for. The tells are consistent: urgency, exclusivity for doctors, and returns described as guaranteed. A cooling off rule helps: no signature at the dinner, ever. General education only.
Resource
Retirement accounts in plain terms
Retirement accounts are tax wrappers, not investments by themselves. In the US, a 401(k) or 403(b) comes through an employer, an IRA is personal, and a Roth version trades tax today for tax free withdrawal later. What goes inside the account, usually diversified funds, is a separate decision from opening it. General education only, and rules differ by country and employer.
The Pro Poll
What should the brothers tackle first for professionals?
Four candidate openers, one white coat vote. The winner leads the strand, so choose like it is your first contract: carefully.
A new Pro Poll question comes with each Professionals episode.
